Bert Show off 100.5
« on: January 24, 2008, 06:37:12 AM »

At 7:45am this morning, The Bert Show bid adieu to 100.5 for good.  The reasons given for this were 1) to work out the last of the engineering kinks, and 2) to speed the migration of listeners to 99.7.

100.5 has a “to the left, to the left” music loop with Bert instructing listeners to make the switch to 99.7.  99X will return for one last gasp 10am today until 5:30am tomorrow, and Q100 will return to 100.5 at 10am.

I would imagine the stunting that begins tomorrow on 100.5 will be peppered with announcements re-directing Q listeners to 99.7.

As a side note, as of this posting the Q web stream has the loop while Bert can be found only on the WNNX feed.

Around 8:00 I heard him give out the phone number and then comment that it was weird since they were now exclusively on 99.7. I thought it was slip-up.

Not that it matters, but as of 9 am this morning they were still simulcasting on 99.7 and 100.5.  And this after a protracted, overwrought "Goodbye 100.5!!!" from all the knuckleheads in the studio.  Nice job guys.

Engineering kinks?!  With the press of a button, I can switch which studio WREK has on the air.  Heck, I could even simulcast any station in Atlanta on 91.1 with a couple of button presses.  I can't imagine it's any more complicated with 99.7 and 100.5....

It was a gimmich. That had Nick Lachey in studio for an hour so what better way than forcing the issue when a big-time guest is on the air. According to Bert he took a red-eye in to be on the show and flew back after the show. Must have shelled out some bucks for that one.

I swear I was in my car around 8:50(?) with Bert Show live on 100.5, then an awkward sequeway from Bert talking live to the Bert/Beyonce "To The Left ... To The Left" endless loop announcement.   Every few minutes I would check back to 100.5 and the endless loop announcment was still playing.

The Bert/Beyonce stunting on 100.5 is still more listenable than "The Morning Mess".  Star 94 might as well start running an annoucment as well in the mornings telling listeners to re-tune their radios to 99.7.

I have listened to the Morning Mess a couple of times and do not find the show to be as bad as yu exaggerate. I did finf it funny that for their phone pranks theme songs they use Queen's "We will Prank You"  Jeff used to  use the same song as "We will Scam you"

Yes I admit that is a hyperbole, I actually laughed at one of the Morning Mess' phone pranks, and when Marco discussed "netting pots" I went out and looked for one.

But Bert Show is very very solid, and is almost like (to me) the radio equivalent of reality tv on radio, wheres Morning Mess is more like conventional morning radio.
