Yes, this is a smart move for Dave on the business side and to gain loyalty of 99X fans.  By featuring tributes about the people such as Leslie that made 99X, it is a very respectful way to welcome X listeners and to tell them that they've grown up a bit where they can still hear the familiar music of 99X and learn to appreciate some of the music that Dave can introduce to them.  On the other hand, The Buzz and Project have countlessly bashed the station, the employees, and constantly refer to it as 99SUX.

I do hope Dave benefits from this more than Project.  CBS has been loyal to the station and the listeners despite the bad ratings and Dave deserves to benefit by gaining the loyal 99X listeners.  Clear Channel will fire all employees and blow up Project the second their ratings fall.  I never understand why several people on this board hate Dave so much, but I see the potential they have in creating soul and personality that connects with their listeners just like 99X did.  If they execute properly, maybe they can last as long as 99X did.

I don't get it either. If NOT drilling the same excruciatingly small selection of tunes into my brain is bad radio, then give me bad radio.

Heard this yesterday and was pretty impressed by the sentiment (no matter the intentions).

And yes, for the record, Dave is the best FM station in Atlanta.

Chronology of events:

Early 2007 - Dave is the worst station in Atlanta.
June 2007 - I announce my candidacy for PD of DAVE-FM.
Late June 2007 - Michelle Engle is fired.
January 2008 - DAVE is the best FM station in Atlanta.

You're welcome.

For the record Neil, I've enjoyed Dave from its inception (insomuch as I even listen to FM radio which admittedly isn't much) BUT your contributions have not gone unnoticed.  Grin
